Knitting & Crochet Blog Week - Day Four: Where are they now?

As the title suggests we have to talk about where a particular item is now.  I wasn't well yesterday - migraine, so am a day late - again.

The item I want to talk about is a blanket that I knitted for the Sands Charity, if you don't know what this is it's a charity that supports anyone affected by the death or still birth of a baby.  I knitted a shawl last year to go into one of their memory boxes.  I received a lovely thank you card from Sands, but I often wonder about the person that received my shawl.  Did they use it to cover the tiny baby for burial, did they take it home.  This I will never know but I hope that in some way it helped them.  I cannot imagine the loss of a child that you have carried for 9 months.  The expection that you will have a healthy baby, then to come home with empty arms. If you have time please knit a shawl, unfortunately 17 babies die or are stillborn every day in the UK.

  1. What a lovely blanket! I am not a good knitter, but I do have 5 knitting machines (that have not seen the light of day in years)

Thanks for dropping by my place! Hopefully my last post didn't throw you for a loop ;)

  2. What a beautiful shawl, and a beautiful thing to do. I hope I can do the same one day.
