Knitting Thursday

Its finished.  Details are here.  Just realised I called that post Knitting Wednesday but it was actually Tuesday! I used odd buttons as I didn't have 6 of anything I liked.  Think they look ok, there are 3 of each so I just alternated them.

Knitting Wednesday (actually Tuesday)

This is what I am currently working on in between wedding stuff......

Pattern - Marriner Yarns #11055
Yarn - King Cole DK
Size 0-6 months

I did the sleeves plain as holey sleeves and tiny baby fingers don't mix well

This was going to be a feather and yarn scarf, decided it wasn't quite right so rather than frog it I have split it and found a pattern to make a childs yoked cardigan.  Hoping this will work out so watch this space.

The garden is looking pretty right now....

Thats all from me today

Exploring somewhere new

I really cannot believe that we have lived here all the years and yet have never been to Anglesey Abbey.  Its a mere 12 miles away.  It took a visit by our youngest daughter a couple of week ago to encourage us to visit.  As we have had the boys this weekend we thought we would take them along too.

We never got to see the house so that will be saved for another visit, but the boys loved the Wildlife Discovery Area.  What fun for little boys.  There was a treehouse - bit too high for them, preferring the smaller pirate ship.  I was so cross, I got out my camera only to find that it had been left on and the battery was exhausted and I didn't have the spare with me, so I had to makedo with my phone. The photos didn't come out too badly when all is said and done.

There were lots of piles of sticks for the children to make "dens", here is our effort

I wildlife centre with lots of exhibits and craft materials

Lots of space to let of steam and run around, good facilities for lunch and yes somewhere we will definately go back too.

When we got home there was time for play in the garden as it was a really beautiful day

Today hasn't been so nice, grey and much colder.  It was the annual Yesteryear Run, we watched for a while outside then decided to come in and watch in the warm. Funny it was cold last year too, look how much more advanced with garden is!

We have had a great weekend, tiring, but fun.  Hope yours has been good too.

Set free

My Holden shawl has been set free from the pins and wires, so so happy with it.

It has been a beautifully warm and sunny day, long may it last

Knitting, gardening.....busy busy

Life is busy right now, 6 weeks to go to the wedding and I am finally on top of the garden.  Still things to do but happy that all the borders have had some much needed attention.  There are a few gaps that need plugging in the conifer bed.  The plants have either not over wintered well or just given up the ghost.

I think spring is my favourite time in the garden, so much promise and lots of colour.  Here are a few photos that I have taken today.

bags of rubbish awaiting a trip to the tip

Here is my finished Holden Shawl, knitted in Sirdar Sunseeker Touch of Linen (discontinued).  I was worried that the yarn wouldn't do the pattern justice, but it has worked well and is lovely and drapey, will be the perfect addition to a summer dress on cool evenings.  One I will make again.

And because they are so lovely......

We are looking forward to some warm weather over the next two days, highs of 21C, great for this time of the year, definitely gardening weather, so I shall be busy
