1 December 2016

December is here already

Goodness this year is racing past.  Can you believe 2016 is nearly done?

How is the Christmas shopping going?  I am actually doing ok, managed to do some of it online or one of my elves has helped out. Still stuff to do, but not feeling under pressure.

The puddings are made, the cake is baked and being fed, so still need to marzipan and ice that.

I won't be sending cards this year, as I plan to make a donation to Dementia Research. Our mum has been diagnosed with vascular dementia and with all that entails (its been quite a stressful few months), I feel that my money will be better spent on helping people with this dreadful illness, too late for her but if it can help others then so be it.  I'm sure you will all understand. Life is very different for her and us and it takes some getting used too.

Knitting has helped take my mind off things for a while, someone asked if I was a human knitting machine the other day!! Ok, I do turn over a far amount of stuff but as they are mainly baby things they don't take long.

This is what I have made since I last blogged about it - ok that is quite a lot

We had the boys last weekend, which was fun, lots of activities in the garden and park -

Love this photo of my handsome husband xxx
so that was our November.......

Our Autumn away

Southwold -we are just back from our annual trip to the Suffolk coast .  As usual I left a little bit of my heart there, just to make sure I go back.  Lets face it there is no fear of me not, having been every year for the last 51 years.

As its November, the weather was mixed.  Beck and the boys joined us for the weekend, and Rachel and her two were with us until Friday afternoon.

This was the Friday afternoon we arrived

Then Saturday - cold and it ended up raining - hard!

Sunday was glorious

Monday - grey day

Tuesday - cold and rainy

Wednesday - amazing morning turning cool and grey in the afternoon

Thursday - grey and showery

Friday morning - sunny and cold

Friday afternoon - just us two

Then Saturday - an early walk to watch the sunrise before packing up to go home

I'm really not sure how many times I have taken some of these views, 100's I'm sure but I never get tired of them.  Until next year.....,

Goodness 2 in a week

Just when you thought I'd disappeared I give you 2 posts in a week!  I have also updated the pages which you can find along the top bar.

The slipover for Gus is now completed.  I love it.  I used Berroco Comfort and there is more than enough to make a top for Jess.  I have cast on Mud Puddles , and plan to add a couple of bands of the same pattern long the lower part, so they are sort of matching

Jess here modelling a hat I made a while back, also one of her many cardigans.  I love her curls

and of course Gus in his bobble hat

Oliver Cromwell was sporting a "hat" in St Ives on Monday, I guess he wouldn't have been too pleased

Spending time with all the grandchildren on Saturday, so hopefully I can snap a few more hand knits in action.

Me again

Yes, I'm still alive, where does the time go? Over 2 weeks since I last posted, really not sure what I've done other than garden clear up, knitting and visiting my mother.

The garden is a full time job right now trying to keep on top of the leaves.  Its a late leaf drop again and the trees are hanging on, though a few more cold days and they will soon start shedding. The first 3 pics were taken walking back to the car on Saturday after a trip to town.  Went for trousers ended up with boots!!

Rachel and I found a brilliant craft shop after a visit to my Mum.  Its situated at the Taverham Nursery.  We will definitely be calling in there again

So onto the knitting - actually looks like a achieved a fair bit in the last 2 weeks.  The photo below has come on a bit this afternoon just the neck and arm bands to do on this little slipover.  I plan to make a top for Jess too with the same yarn
