Knitting - All about more hats

The hat knitting continues, I'm actually enjoying this project, and we have a fair number of ladies coming for our Granny's World knitting sale and coffee morning - scary!!

Along with the hats, headbands and mittens there will be some pocket money odds and ends. Flower hair ties, flower brooches, and button hair clips

My dear husband has been searching Ebay for some more reels, love this latest collection, they actually make great hat stands too!

In amongst the knitting, life still goes on. Yesterday we got more wood cut and stacked, leaves cleared (again...... will they never end), soup made - this weekend's is Leek and Potato

Here are a few photos from the garden- I picked an olive, which are slowly ripening, soft and oily, but oh so bitter - I knew this but still had to taste.  I threw the olive to the chickens who were in the yard, it was so funny, one of them kept pecking at it, then wiping her beak on the gravel, then going back for more, as stupid as me.

Sunday stretches out in front of us.  We should do something about Christmas shopping but can't be bothered, its currently misty, but I feel the need of a walk before settling down to more knitting.  Maybe I'll take my camera out, I've not shared a walk in a while.  See you later

Knitting - All about hats

It was a quiet weekend, eye tests - no change for me, more leaves cleared - though you'd not know it now......sigh, christmas puddings made, then as the rain fell relentlessly yesterday - knitting.

I am currently working on hats and made these since Friday,

Why I hear you ask?  Well...... my youngest has talked me into doing a knitwear sale for her friends so she will be hosting a coffee morning and having a knitwear sale.  Mainly hats, headbands, mittens and bootees for now with the possibility of taking orders for other items. My biggest worry is the pricing of said items, we did have a discussion on Facebook about this but it wasn't really that conclusive, I think it will be a case of suck it and see.  I realise that you can never put a price on your time, lets face it I would be knitting anyway, so as long as I cover the material costs I guess I'm happy to do it.  However if anyone out there has a tried and tested formula do share.

Knitting - a rash of headbands

Headbands are the order of the day at the moment.  Here are some I have knitted so far, some I have shown you before, buts its good to see them altogether.  Most of them are for babies/toddlers, so great quick knits, and also great stash busters

This evening I am casting on some Christmasy ones, photos to follow

Mixed bag weekend

According to Google
this is my 1000th post

To that end this post is about all the things that make up Granny's World - family, knitting, gardening and music.  This weekend had them all.

Firstly family.  The boys came to stay for the weekend and whilst the weather was a bit rubbish, we did manage to get outside for a while to get some air and exercise, clearing leaves

Plenty of drawing and puzzles

Teasing the chickens through the window

Tower building

I also got some knitting done -

This simple headband - 72 stitches using aran weight yarn on 7mm needles, just 4 rows 2 x 2 rib, 8 rows stocking stitch, 4 rows 2 x2 rib and cast off.  Sew up seam and add a flower of large button over the seam to hide

This cowl with matching headband (I adapted the pattern here) is Super Snuggly by Penny Whitehall from  Simply Knitting issue 88

This headband is for Rachel as she wanted one to match Jess's but without the flower.  Again a very simple 2 x 2 rib over 90 stitches for 20 rows on 4.5mm - aran weight yarn

Here is Jess wearing hers - she has been very poorly over the last 2.5 weeks, finally on the mend thank goodness.

Then the music - Clare Teal does Doris Day.  A very enjoyable evening

So there you have it our weekend.
