Tuesday evening walk

As promised we went back with the camera and took some pictures of the lambs.  So cute.

It was a beautiful evening, windy but warm, so good to get out without coats.  Our walk took us along the river about an hour round trip, with stops to take some photos for you

Weekend roundup

Well what a mixed bag of weather....

Friday we had rain, lots of rain, but I spent the day with Laurie and his Mum.  Rufus was with his Nana. Laurie has to be prised away from his mother in preparation for her going back to work, so whilst she was around I spent the day amusing him, and doing all the necessaries. It was a pleasure.

Saturday - We had a dry start but after Friday's rain it was too wet to do anything outside, so we walked into St Ives and had lunch in the pub, then wandered back, we experienced a few showers.  I didn't take my camera as I didn't think there would be anything different from last week.  The sheep and their lambs were out, so I promise I'll pop down this week and take some pictures, they are so cute. I spent the afternoon and evening knitting.  The Lusaka sweaters are finished and I also went through my stash of finished items and put together a few bits to include in my package.

I started a new project which I don't plan to tell you much about for now...... so you will just have to keep an eye on my blog for further details

Then Sunday, we woke to overnight rain, but strong warm winds.  Quick trip to the garden centre for potting and seed compost, weed and feed for the lawn, then it was out on the garden.  Peter tackled the lawn while I headed to the greenhouse and set some seeds. Runner beans, dwarf beans, climbing beans, butternut squash, sunshine squash, courgette, tomatoes, chillies, sunflowers, corn flowers, nasturtiums  cottage garden mix, basil, dahlias and fuchsias saved from last year

The reward for all this hard work, was a pleasant late afternoon on the patio, with a white wine spritzer in the sun.  Cheeks hot, pink chest, it was so lovely to feel the sun, long may it last, its loooong overdue.

I picked up these books today at the charity shop, cost me the princely sum of £1.10 ($1.69), not had a chance to look through them properly yet, but I'm sure they will be a source of inspiration.

I'm reading A Song in the Daylight by Paullina Simons



which I'm enjoying immensely, not as good as the Bronze Horseman but then its a completely different era. It must be good as I'm managing chapters at bedtime rather than my normal page, in fact forcing myself to put it down and go to sleep.

The sun is out, its 12C, the garden is calling, for more WIPs go to Tami or Ginny

A few facts about me.....

I inwardly groaned when I got to the bottom of a post by Ivy of Pumpkin Spins and saw that she had tagged me.  Not one to normally go in for memes of this kind, I battled to try and think of something about me that would be vaguely interesting and that I hadn't mentioned before.

5 facts about me.

1. Travel Sickness - this is a huge factor in who I am and what I do.  It was first discovered that I suffer from motion sickness when my brother came along and I was put on a pram seat, yes it made me sick.  I walked miles from the age of 2 maybe why #3 factors in my life.  I was the kid that either didn't go on school trips or sat up front with the driver and a bucket.  I can't travel backwards on a train.  Coaches and mini-buses are a no no. Taxis - I sit in front with the driver. Cars - cannot sit in the back, so we always end up driving others as Peter gets mildly car sick too. Boats are best avoided unless I can get outside and hang over the rail. Air-planes are a necessary evil, I use them or we would never go anywhere. I am most often sick on the out bound flight, but never (as yet) on an in bound flight.  My worst experience was on a flight to San Francisco, I was sick for 8 hours, my husband and children disowned me, leaving me to the tender mercies of a kind American lady and the air hostess, in the end I was taken to the back of the plane to lay down.  I was ill for 2 days after.  So as much as I would love to travel to the far flung reaches of the world, most are out of the question due to modes of transport.

2. I own 37 cookery books but rarely use any of them, apart from some very well thumbed copies of Madhur Jaffrey's Indian cookery. I love to cook Indian food from scratch

3. I love to walk.  My biggest achievement was walking Hadrian Wall - 89 miles, but prior to that I had taken part in a number of Oxfam Walks, my first at the age of 14 was 25 miles - I thought I would die

4.I have all my body parts apart from my tonsils and adenoids

5. I have lived in the same house twice - 142 Oxford Road, Cambridge - I was born there (renting) and then my parents moved back (buying) when I was 12.

So there you have it 5 facts about me, you can be the judge if you thought they were interesting or not.

Any time we get to spend with the boys is joyful. Today was no exception.  What's not to like, a good walk, sunshine and happy boys.
