At last

Gus finally decided to model his new sweater for me. I was so pleased when these pictures popped into my WhatsApp.  

I so glad I went with plain sleeves for this sweater. I love the pattern which was from the Patons Play Days book, the style is called Oliver.  I think I’ll make him another whilst this pattern still fits him.

Trellis socks

 

This weekend I finally got round to finishing my Lazy Sunday socks. The pattern was by Sarah Dennis which was published in a copy of the Simply knitting magazine a few years ago. 

The yarn was from Cruellas in Nelson, New Zealand - Spritzer hand dyed 4ply . A souvenir from our trip early last year. It seems like a lifetime ago.

I have now cast on another honeycomb cushion, using aran weight yarn in beige as previous cushions but with a multi coloured yarn for the accent colour. Photos when I have a bit more knit.

WIP Wednesday - Impressionist

Morning all, that's assuming you are reading this in the morning, if not then hi hope you are having a good day.

Work continues on the stash busting of ball oddments.  My friend Kathy says that I am now going into my Claude Monet "Impressionist" phase with the colours I'm using.  What do you think?

First the work in progress - this will be a stripey number, I hoping the dark purple will last through the hat!  Just a basic beanie pattern

I am still working on the ten stitch blanket, slowly. I do need to get on and finish this off but doing these hats is such fun.

Weekend review

So it turns out there is nothing wrong with my laptop, just a stiff on/off switch, feel a bit of a fool as it worked as soon as Dan turned it on.  I wouldn't like to tell you how many times I tried!!  Maybe the act of carrying into work jiggled it.  Well at least that’s one less expense.

On to the weekend - The boys came to stay on Friday and we had a great time.  Laurie started his interest in yarn. And Rufus went for his nap with a sticker book!!

Hubby and eldest daughter went off to Harry Potter World on Saturday and Rachel and I were left in charge.  We had planned to take them for a picnic and paddling but the weather was a bit iffy so we decided to go into St Ives on the bus instead.  Are we glad we did!  It was Armed Forces Day on Saturday, and when we got to St Ives we were met with the sight of US Army trucks and jeeps and a Spitfire airplane, to say Rufus was excited was an understatement.  We had a good look round then went off to feed the ducks.

There was also a RAF band playing at lunchtime, so we picked up some lunch and settled down to listen.  They were really good, lots of Glen Miller and swing band numbers.  Rufus was soon dancing, much to the amusement of the onlookers.  During the music there was also a Spitfire flypast. Rufus managed to collect a chest full of stickers before going home.  

Both boys enjoyed the bus trip, and we got home in time for a nap.

By the time naps were over the sun had come out and we managed some fun in the garden, introducing Laurie to the slide, which proved a big hit!

What can I say about Laurie, he loves to eat.  He is a very enthusiastic eater, not that fussy as long as it keeps coming and coming fast, he doesn't like to be kept waiting!

The rest of the weekend was a whirl of gardening and play, weather was beautiful, what more can you ask for

Problems....

NO INTERNET!!!  Got home yesterday to find a card from Virgin Media to say our broadband will be out til 4 July!  Also, my laptop has died..... thanks Tim you said I should get a new one, sure you put a curse on it!! So things will be a bit quiet around here, as I will need to try and get on here at work for a while.

I have changed the name of my blog to Granny's World.  Suggestion was that the other was too long and I guess this reflects my blog better.  If you read my blog on a regular basis, why not become a follower, its very easy and then I'd know who was reading it; comments would be appreciated too.  I have a visitor counter so I know I get a fair few readers but up till now only 5 followers.  So come on, don't be shy, expose yourselves - in the nicest possible way that is!

The lead flashing has gone on along the new base plate and the old window area is being reclad, they are still out there working so I will take some pictures when they've gone.
