I went to bed with two rows left to knit and the sew up to do. I know if I stayed up I would be burning the midnight oil. Our neighbour woke me at 6:30, they have a gravel drive and he obviously forgot something and came roaring back in to get it, then roared out again, so I decided just to get up and finish. So here it is
The pattern came from Sirdar Secret Garden Aran Knits and the yarn used was Sirdar Denim, with an oddment of navy for the contrast. I love an aran knit, works up so quickly. I was asked how I knit so fast. I don't think I do. Due to the heat, I've honestly not done much else other than sit and knit, occasionally read, so house and garden work have been neglected. Yesterday was cooler, so I did help hubby clean the car and also did some weeding.
Thank you for all the kind messages about leaving Facebook, please know that nothing that was said was aimed at me. It's just the whole thing really, the hate against race, brexit, adverts and just the general negativity. I can honestly say I am not missing IT, though I do miss the interaction with like minded knitters plus its giving me much more time to knit. It also means I am spending some of the lost time, back here on the blog as a forum for my knits. Whilst its not generating the views it did when I shared it to Facebook, its was always more for me as a record anyway.
So what to do next? Possibly another sweater vest, I want to see how this one goes down before doing another, also the eldest grandson may want one. I have my ten stitch blanket to finish but to be honest it's just too warm for doing that right now
Maybe something for me. I need to go through my stash and patterns and see what I fancy.
Plans for today? - need to go and do some shopping, visit the in laws and have a tidy round. Enjoy your day whatever you are doing

WIP Wednesday - Impressionist
Morning all, that's assuming you are reading this in the morning, if not then hi hope you are having a good day.
Work continues on the stash busting of ball oddments. My friend Kathy says that I am now going into my Claude Monet "Impressionist" phase with the colours I'm using. What do you think?
First the work in progress - this will be a stripey number, I hoping the dark purple will last through the hat! Just a basic beanie pattern
One I finished yesterday......
and this the day before
and one I had already shared, but sharing again as I get more visitors on a Wednesday
I am still working on the ten stitch blanket, slowly. I do need to get on and finish this off but doing these hats is such fun.
You can also find Granny's World on Facebook, why not stop by and LIKE the page for more updates

Next is the WIP
Pattern - Peach Sorbet Cardi from Sublime #617

2013 is nearly done....
...time to reflect on the past year.
As regular readers will know, there are several things that loom large in Granny's World; our wonderful grandsons, knitting and gardening. The garden seems to take a bit of a back seat these days, but will always be there even if its not a well tended as it should be. To see our garden through the year check out "Our Garden" page.
Another love is to travel, and we were very fortunate this year to spend some time with two lovely ladies and their husbands. You can read about our travels this year and our trip to the USA on my "We love to travel" page or here, here and here. We are hoping to be able to welcome them all to the UK in 2014.
Then on to our family, the grandsons continue to delight us, it is wonderful to watch them grow and this year Laurie has turned from a baby into a boisterous toddler!! The words are starting to tumble from him and he continuously makes us laugh. Rufus, a much more sensitive child, continues to grow into an amazingly intelligent little boy (can you tell I am very biased), he has a great memory and continuously surprises us. I am fortunate to see them every 2 weeks or more if possible and they stay here often much to the delight of Pops, their number one fan.
In June we learnt that we were to be grandparents again in 2014. This time our youngest daughter Rachel and her partner Stuart are having a baby in February or early March at the latest, to say we are excited would be an understatement as this one will live just up the road rather than a 45 minute drive away.
In April we said goodbye to my Uncle Ken - my father's elder brother. My parents and in-laws are still with us, if not always in the best of health, we continue to enjoy their company.
Knitting as always, is a huge part of my life. Something I do most days! I belong to several knitting/craft groups and have made some very talented friends, we knit for charity and our families and to see some of my work check out my "Knitting Projects" page, I do try to keep it updated. I join in several blog related 'show and tells' - Tami Amis (for WIP Wednesday & FO Friday), Yarn Along (for WIP's on a Wednesday and Ginny also writes an amazing blog about her ever expanding family and their life, great photographs), Frontier Dreams (for crafting on Tuesday).
Blogging and the internet in general, some would say a waste of time, and whilst I still have an old school mobile phone thus resisting the urge to be online all day, I do spend valuable time interacting online. To be honest I have made so many new friends it can't be considered a waste and it also allows me to keep up with friends much easier than any letter could do. I do however miss that long awaited letter dropping on the mat. I have pages on Facebook one for me and one for the blog - Granny's World, be sure to stop by and LIKE the page, leave a comment, I love to know what you think. The blog continues to attract a few comments, more I find on a Wednesday or Friday, but as I write this just for me I guess it doesn't matter. A wave to all the blog followers, whether via email, Bloglovin , Facebook or Ravelry- as I said please leave a comment.
So here we are at the end of 2013, Peter and I still working, keeping in reasonable health, and enjoy a comfortable life together. We have so much to be thankful for, especially our family who continue to want to spend time with us and for that we are truly grateful.
I hope that your 2013 has been memorable and that your 2014 will be one to remember.

Last post of 2012
This is my last posting for 2012. It has been a good year. There is too much to recap on but the most important thing to happen was the safe arrival of Laurie in July.

3 days

Another significant factor this year has been the weather. To say its been wet would be an understatement. I can't actually remember such a wet year, ever. This Christmas break has been wet too. The only dry days being Boxing Day morning (Wed) and yesterday (Sun). These were the only days we managed to get out for a decent walk. When I say walk more like a slip and slide in some places. Pathways blocked and those that were open were a mud bath in places. It was good to get out for some air after being forced to stay in (knitting, such a hardship!). We did go and see the Hobbit too.
As posted a few weeks ago the fields around here were pretty wet. They now are a whole lot worse..... but we are the lucky ones, our homes are dry and safe and whilst one or two people in the village are inconvenienced (see above picture) they at least have dry homes. My heart goes out to many in the UK who are displaced and their homes wrecked due to the severe flooding.
Anyway back to the walk.
With more rain forecast for today it won't be getting dry around here anytime soon. New Years Day is looking dry and sunny so maybe we can get out again. We always think we are getting a good long holiday but it goes all too quickly and before you know its back to work.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for stopping by to read my blog; I love to read your comments so keep them coming. Why not become a follower or LIKE us on Facebook.

Weekend Review
As predicted the weather was awful on Saturday, started out cold and foggy and by mid morning it was rain and gales. Luckily I was happily ensconced at the Sheep Shop for my crochet class. It was an interesting morning. I now know the principles and I think with practice and some patience I can crack this.
A colleague had shown me how to do a treble a few weeks back and I was pleased to see that I remembered how to do it.
Peter kindly picked me up from the class and asked me if I would like to go out for lunch. Not needing to be asked twice, we headed out to the Crown & Punchbowl at Horningsea, a perfect lunch for a miserable day, plus it meant that I didn't need to cook dinner, as we don't normally have a 3 course lunch!!
I decided that Granny's World needed its own page on Facebook, so be sure to pop over a "like" it - it also give you another way of reading and keeping updated - thanks in advance
Knitting during the afternoon and evening - I got this little jacket finished and worked on a couple of other projects.
Sunday was a bit better, we managed to see a bit of sun, I did some housework )-: and Peter cleared the tomato plants from the greenhouse, presenting me with 2 and a bit pounds of green tomatoes. I just had to make chutney, luckily I had all the necessary ingredients to hand
And after all that I spent the rest of the day knitting - secret projects

| These I did with a colleague before going to the class - I'm actually really pleased with them now, I thought they were rubbish before! |
