Hello 2015

Happy New Year

2015

A whole fresh year 

One to fill with only good things, hopefully  

I don't make resolutions, easily made, easily broken

My one wish for this year 

is that all those near and dear to me

are above all happy and healthy

The first dilemma of 2015 is that I can't decide which buttons to put on a cardigan I'm knitting!

BTW the pocket is coming off as I'm not happy with how it looks, really shouldn't sew in bad light with 3 glasses of champagne inside me!

We are off to the cinema today - final episode of the Hobbit.  Its a dull, grey day, so perfect for the cinema.

The last few days have been lovely and we got in another walk yesterday along the river.  Here are a few photos to record the day.  A few hardy souls braving the cold

Our New Year Walk

Happy New Year, the sun is out we are going for a walk.

Our walk today will take us to St Ives via the guided bus way.  As the bus way is not running today we are safe to walk along the tracks, as this is the only way we are going to walk there due to the water.

Did you enjoy the walk an 8 mile round trip.  We did, though the return journey was fairly crowded as there were a lot more cyclists and walkers than earlier and we had to keep skipping tracks.  Time for feet up and some knitting.

Tomorrow I will have to take down Christmas, can't face it today.

Last post of 2012

This is my last posting for 2012.  It has been a good year. There is too much to recap on but the most important thing to happen was the safe arrival of Laurie in July.

Another significant factor this year has been the weather.  To say its been wet would be an understatement.  I can't actually remember such a wet year, ever.  This Christmas break has been wet too.  The only dry days being Boxing Day morning (Wed) and yesterday (Sun).  These were the only days we managed to get out for a decent walk.  When I say walk more like a slip and slide in some places.  Pathways blocked and those that were open were a mud bath in places.  It was good to get out for some air after being forced to stay in (knitting, such a hardship!).  We did go and see the Hobbit too.

Boxing Day walk

As posted a few weeks ago the fields around here were pretty wet. They now are a whole lot worse..... but we are the lucky ones, our homes are dry and safe and whilst one or two people in the village are inconvenienced (see above picture) they at least have dry homes.  My heart goes out to many in the UK who are displaced and their homes wrecked due to the severe flooding.

Anyway back to the walk.

With more rain forecast for today it won't be getting dry around here anytime soon.  New Years Day is looking dry and sunny so maybe we can get out again. We always think we are getting a good long holiday but it goes all too quickly and before you know its back to work.

Happy New Year

We raised a glass or two last evening.  It was quiet as planned. We never bothered to see the New Year in, just too tired, must be getting old!!

Looking back over 2011 - a productive year

Its that time of year again - as we fast approach 2012, I have been looking back at what we have achieved, and its been lots.

Our biggest project was turning our old barn into a garden room.  This room has really come into its own.  I never thought that it would be used as much as it is.  The best money we have ever spent.  Lots of hard work to achieve the end result but well worth the time.  A big thanks again to all involved.

Next has been the garden, again a fairly productive year, though some of the vegetables could have been better.  I few changes were made due the the bad weather in the early months of the year but all in all just trying to keep it generally tidy.  Saying that I need to get out and do some of that tidying....... a job for another day me thinks.

We also revamped the kitchen and front sitting room - still awaiting the shelving in there!

And then of course when I wasn't painting or gardening I was knitting.  I just checked out my projects on Ravelry and see that I have knitted/completed 47 items and have 2 WIP's on the needles along with a sock which I am trying out.  My completed projects were:

6 x scarves
10 x hats
2 x baby shoes
2 x baby dresses
7 x baby cardigans
assortment of decorations
2 x headbands
2 x toddler jumpers
1 x ladies cardigan which I frogged
2 x tea cosy
1 x door stop
4 x Ten stitch blankets
1 pair slippers
2 x egg cosy
2 x Bunny blanket buddies

my WIP's area Ten Stitch blanket and a baby cardigan.  So as you see a productive year.  For pictures of my knitted items go to my knitwear page.

We have enjoyed 2 celebrations this year.  Firstly, Rufus's 1st birthday and naming party, a first outing for the garden room - you may remember it rained.  Secondly, my father's 80th birthday party.  I am pleased to say both went well.  I hope we have many more things to celebrate in the coming year, along with my father's continuing good health.

We plan a quiet new years eve - a dinner in the garden room,  just the two of us, some sushi, seafood and champagne, bit of soft music and reflective conversation, I promise no knitting.
