New year new look

yesterday was my 5 weekly cut and colour and as its a New Year I thought it was time for a bit of a change.

I've had my recent hair style for about 2.5 years now, this style was a complete change for me as for most of my life it has been short, in some cases very short.  Anyway, I sat there looking in the mirror, Barbara says "what are we doing today, just the usual roots and trim" and I utter the words "I fancy a change".  And a change is what I got, and now I'm not sure.  My husband is not sure, in fact won't say whether he likes it or not.  For years I kept it short as he said he always liked it like that and now he's not saying.  Time will tell if I can handle the style, it may prove to be more work than usual.  I know it will grow again, but it that painful growing out that I hate. Below are some of the hair styles I've had over the years.  My new one is sort of in between some of these.  See the 3rd pic on 2nd row - I was just 19 there!

Lets hope Rufus recognises his granny today, we are off swimming, that should sort the hairdo out!!

Awake early + rain = Friday

Good morning, yes up before the lark! Awake since 4:15, up since 5am, checked my email, Facebook and Ravelry so now time to update my blog.

Plans for the weekend? The plan is I have no plans, which is actually quite nice.  So apart from getting my hair done this morning, a free weekend lays ahead - apart from the usual washing and housework.  On the subject of hair, at what age do you decide to give in and go grey gracefully?  I get my roots done every 6 weeks, me thinks it should be sooner than that, I'll have to have words.  But honestly, when do you decide enoughs enough? My husband and daughters say carry on, but for how long?  I don't want to end up one of those sad old ladies with an obvious dye job.

The rain has put paid to any hopes of getting out in the garden, I have so much clearing up to do, a quick look round earlier this week shows a few snowdrops peaking through and the aconites are putting on a show in the border on the drive, other than that it looks sad and neglected.

On my needles
- making up samples for Stitched Up - the knitting part of the girls craft group starts on Monday, hope they all behave and don't stab anyone with the needles
- playmat -making up the last of the applique flowers then I need to sew them all on, wadding and backing
Whatever you do with your weekend, have fun, I'm sure I will.....

Made myself another beret and moebius, lovely autumn shades, now just need some cold weather to wear them



Off to the hairdresser this morning for my 6 weekly cut and colour, chat and a chance to read the trashy magazines! This afternoon my friend Helene is coming round to up date me on her travels. Looking forward to seeing her.

Radio 2 Live: Jamie Cullum - Maida Vale at 75

Yes, Friday night saw us at the Jamie Cullum show recording for the Maida Vale at 75 anniversary. We were in the small audience, just 75 pairs of tickets were given away + about a dozen people on the guest list. It was quite exciting being at a live recording, especially when they played in Sally 'Traffic' and the end of the Chris Evans Show, and then the news, then US, lots of clapping and whooping. The recording was just a short interview by Kate Thornton, followed by 4 songs that made up the half hour show. Fortunately for us he hung around for a bit and played some more songs.

Following the recording we went for dinner at a Persian restaurant called Kish on Kilburn High Road, so much food... I just couldn't do it justice, my stomach must have really shrunk. We then went for a drink at a pub just over from our hotel where we were entertained by the clientele..... a group of elderly Irish people who had been in the pub since lunch time, the language was quite ripe and one of the old men looked like he'd clearly wet himself! A young women who was steadily drinking to hide the fact that her 'date' was late, he did finally turn up with lots of apologies! Then there were a couple of sad looking blokes propping up the bar, who were clearly never going to pull, even if they were the last men on earth, so it all proved to be a highly entertaining evening.

Oxford Street beckoned in the morning, headed straight to M&S at Marble Arch, actually didn't get as much as I'd hoped, skirt, jumper, necklace, jeans and a rugby shirt. We did venture into John Lewis where I tried on 'the dress' I'd worn in the photo shoot, somehow it just didn't look the same with hair that looked like my finger had been in a socket (its goes mad when its damp outside), minimal makeup and I just couldn't justify spending the £149 on a dress I have no occasion to wear.

Today...

I'm at work, which is a sad affair as normally Friday is my day off. I've nothing to do so am bored, just here to make the numbers up as we have 2 on holiday. I have bought some knitting with me, so will probably get on with that shortly, but don't tell the boss, he's one of the ones on holiday! Highlight of the day will be a trip to the hairdressers to get my roots done and my haircut, have a coffee and a good natter. My hairdresser is a MOB (Mother of the Bride) this year too, so I expect we will be discussing outfits amongst other things.

This weekend sees the annual birthday bash - 3 birthdays within an 8 day period so we all get together, have a cocktail or 4 then out for a meal. This year curry has been chosen so it could get messy. I'll tell you about it next week.

Still no sign of my extra wool, the Easter holidays have really messed up the deliveries, but I'm assured its on its way.
