Lazy Sunday

Not a whole lot getting done today. I was awake in the wee small hours, downstairs at 3:15.  Not sure why I didn’t just go and get in the spare bed!? Started to drift off on the sofa just as Peter got up, so I have been feeling pretty spaced out all day.

This afternoon Peter took his mum and her partner for their Covid boosters, at 94 and 87 they really need a lift especially when the appointment was out of their immediate area.

I did the ironing, then took myself out for a walk hoping the fresh air would wake me up.  Must admit it was lovely out, first time the sun came out all day.  I ended my walk with a sit in a bench overlooking the river and spotted this guy perfectly framed by the vegetation.

Looking downstream towards St James church

Leaves were slowly dropping from this tree and floating away with the current, so peaceful.

Just finishing a cup of tea then I will go and prepare dinner. Roast beef and Yorkshire pudding and all the trimmings tonight, and hopefully a good sleep ….

Walking the lunch off

Sunday roast.  We've not done that in an age, usually choosing to eat our main meal in the evening.

Rachel and the little ones came for the day whilst Stu was at a bike event, so we got in a leg of lamb in and had all the trimmings.  I wish you could have seen the plateful that Jess ate but she did it proud.  We followed that up with apple crumble and custard.  Once that was all demolished and cleared up we decided that a walk was in order. It was a beautiful afternoon, chilly and bright.

I never tire of these views, the sun was a glorious ball of fire.

I hope you enjoyed your Sunday as much as we did.  Now to put my feet up and finish off Jess' cardigan, just the front bands to do.  She is going to look so cute in it (she already tried it for me and it fits perfectly)

Sunday.....

Started with a lay-in, the first in a long while that didn't involve tissues and meds or grandchildren.  Cup of tea, book and a bowl of porridge, bliss.

I then decided as it was real foggy first thing that I would make some jam.  We were running low on Ru's favourite, blackberry and apple or Granny Jam as he calls it.  Plenty of apples and loads of blackberries in the freezer. This lot should keep him going for a while.

Next we decided to bring down a doll's house we have had in storage for some time.  Let me tell you about the dolls house.  Made some 56 years ago by my late father in law for my sister in law Sara, she went on to have 3 boys so the house was passed on to our girls.  We painted it and decorated the rooms, added carpet and cork tiles and new furniture, the girls had lots of fun with it.  It's been stored in the rafters of the stables since and now we have Miss J it was time to bring it down again.

The furniture is very 80's and to be honest could do with updating, so I plan to refurb it, but I think Miss J will have some fun with it

A good brisk walk after lunch. Out for dinner, then on to the Arts Theatre for an evening with Clare Teal. Sounds like a perfect day.  I hope you have had a good weekend
