Knitting - Meet Rosy Rabbit

 I actually thought when I looked at the photo later that it looked like a dissection class!!

Anyway she is now finished.  I am never really happy with the features, I can never get the mouth to look like the picture.  Wasn't sure if she looked a bit like Hitler!?  The eyes and nose are sticky backed velcro dots which saves a lot of agonising.  I decided against the fairisle pattern on the dress as it was getting lost (you can see what I mean on the bottom) in the multi coloured yarn, and it actually looks pretty enough without it.

I had best get cleared up and get on with some housework and jobs. Going out later to enjoy one of my Christmas presents - dinner and the theatre with Rachel, we are off to see Black Coffee at the Arts Theatre in Cambridge.

Have a great weekend.  I will be casting on another white cardigan, I pulled out the wrap over one from last week as wasn't keen on how it was knitting up.  Thats the great thing about knitting the yarn is never wasted.

Mirror mirror on the wall

you are the cruelest of them all.  Fitting rooms, don't you just hate them.  All those mirrors and bright lights, showing up all those lumps, bumps and wobbly bits!!  I need to drop at least 10lbs.

On Friday I got to enjoy one of my Christmas presents - I spent a day in London with my youngest. We had a great day out, - coffee, shopping, lunch, shopping, tea, shopping, drinks and dinner, then theatre.  What's not to like.  Well apart from the shopping, I'm not good at it. Once however, I got into the groove so to speak, it wasn't so bad; I came away with 2 pairs of cropped chinos, 2 pairs of light cotton trousers, 5 tops and 3 pairs of shoes!!

Our day started with a train down to London, first stop was coffee then on to Spitalfields Market, followed by a tube ride and walk to Borough Market, where we partook of a Kangaroo Burger for lunch.  Not bad, but wouldn't be in a hurry to try it again.  A walk along the embankment in the rain to I Knit London, which was a bit of a disappointment, but I won't go into that.  Back on the tube to Oxford Street.  Quick dash into Primark for cheap t-shirts to cut up for a rug - daughter's project.  Next stop M & S where we had tea and cake, to fortify us before heading to the spring clothing range .  As mentioned, after a second walk round I was bullied into the fitting rooms with an armful of clothes, and hey presto, my purse was suddenly a lot lighter!!  I'm pleased with my purchases, and to be honest once the aforementioned weight comes off they will look better.

Next stop was Soho, where we stopped for drinks at Zebranos, happy hour, 2 glasses of wine for the price of one.  Good natter, then off for some dinner before the show.  Our show was the Ladykillers, the stage production of an old Ealing Comedy.  Very funny.  I love going to the theatre and really should do it more often. It was a great and thoughtful present which we both got to enjoy.

As it was Rufus Friday, Peter bravely offered to look after the little man on his own, and he also had an enjoyable day.  Even managed a mucky nappy, but then I guess he had no choice.  He did however, forget to take the camera, so no photos I'm afraid.  Fortunately though he and his mum are coming to stay tomorrow for a couple of days as the builders are taking out the boiler and they will have no heating/hot water.  So I will make sure that the camera is charged and ready.

The rest of the weekend has been spent quietly knitting.  I have finally finished the Ten Stitch - hurrah.  Photos of that to follow.  It did however end up using 2400 grams of stashed yarn, so that has made a bit of a dent in the stash.

So the weekend

Weekends for me start at 2:30 on a Thursday afternoon (1:30 every other week as I have craft group)

Last Thursday I went out for dinner and the theatre with my youngest, this trip was one of my birthday presents from February. We decided to go for dinner at Pizza Express as my husband isn’t a pizza fan so it’s a real treat for me. We followed this with dessert and coffee at Café Nero – triple chocolate cheesecake, oh the calories but I forced myself to eat it!

The play was the Secrets of Sherlock Holmes – not quite what we expected and very short started at 7:45 and we were home by 9:30 and there was an interval! Still dinner and chat certainly made up for the plays shortcomings

Friday was spent house working and gardening in preparation for Sunday’s surprise baby shower (wanted everywhere to look nice).

Saturday morning I spent baking, the Jones arrived mid morning and were whisked off shopping. The evening was spent in town for the annual birthday cocktails and dinner, though this year Mrs Jones was drinking non-alcoholic, you’ll need to read Mrs Jones blog for details of what happened in Brown’s! For dinner we went to Agora (Turkish) very good meal, then got ripped off by the taxi driver on the way home, he wanted £42 to take 6 of us with 2 drop off’s, managed to get him down to £40, but it was a very silent ride home.

Sunday dawned grey and damp, what happened to the promised warmest day of the year? I had planned to have the baby shower in the garden. 10:30 the youngest arrived to whisk away the mother-to-be so I could get on with the shower lunch and all was in place when the guests arrived at 12 – the MTB was suitably surprised and a good time was had by all (I hope). Typically the sun came out just as everyone was leaving.

Don’t forget it’s a bank holiday this weekend so we get an extra long one

They go too quick

This weekend has been about eating, laughing, blisters, bruises, cold walks and of course knitting.

The eating, Yippee noodles on Friday, crumpets toasted on the fire and weekend meals cooked by Peter - eagerly awaiting my roast beef and yorkshire.

The laughing, we went to the theatre to see 39 Steps, not normally a comedy but this adaption was 4 actors playing 132 parts, hilariously funny, if you get the chance to catch it do.

Blisters from my new walking boots, and bruises from not looking where I was going!

Cold walks - lots of icy puddles to smash, takes me back to my childhood.

And lastly knitting - making a play mat - pictures will be posted when finished.
