Mixed bag weekend

So how was your weekend?  Ours was lovely, the weather played ball and we were able to enjoy some good walks.  Saturday we went to the Norfolk coast for the day. It was cold but sunny and not too windy so we walked for 3 hours then went to the Lifeboat Inn for lunch.  I am very proud of my "lunch" photos

Sunday started out dull but very cold.  Luckily all the pathways are clear now so we were able to walk unhindered. Here are some comparisons

After our walk we spent the afternoon and evening in the garden room and I knocked off a few hats and mitts from oddments

Today we awoke to snow, first of the year.

Some of it cleared as the morning progressed, but it is now snowing again and is due to do so for the rest of the day!

I hate driving in snow so glad to be home from work. So stay safe, stay warm

Oh so early

I am writing this post far to early for a Saturday morning (5:23am).  I have been awake since 4am, don't ask me why, it happens.  Maybe it was the pizza, wine and ice cream I ate last night.

Yesterday I spent the day playing with Laurie.  Rufus was spending the day at his Nana's, but I did get to see him for a short while before he went.

I have a couple of finished projects to share also today.

The V necked cardigan.  I am knitting a matching hat to go with it.

This little hat is knitted in Rowan RYC Pure Silk DK, I found a stray ball in my stash, so soft, the hat only took 20 grams so enough for another, should I wish or I may make matching mitts.

We are off to the coast today, the weather is looking good, cold, but no snow yet.  I'll be sure to take some pretty photos.

WIP Wednesday

Welcome from sunny Cambridgeshire, its lovely here today after the overnight rain.  I was going to say we had had no rain for 3 days but last night it poured.

WIP's - this week I am working on the Ten Stitch - I always panic when I add a light round, but with so many more rounds to do I know this will work in well.  As I have to make another of these matching, I am having to be careful not to exhaust all the colours.

The V necked cardigan is coming along, I still have the sleeves to knit. I am working on the front band. I would of had this done last night but realised I had knitted 2 right fronts, so needed to pull back and start again.  That's what happens when you talk and knit at the same time and don't pay attention to which side you are shaping on!  I joined a new (to me) knitting group yesterday.  They meet every Tuesday afternoon at the Dolphin Hotel in St Ives.  I'm not sure if I can make every Tuesday but its nice to have somewhere else to knit.  Thank you ladies.

On the reading front I am on the last few chapters of the Cross Country Quilters.  I have enjoyed this book.  Yes its predictable but its sometime good to have something light to read.

Clearing the decks

The tree and decorations packed away, cards down, leftovers finished, fridge cleared, all that remained was a bowl of lemons and limes, what to do with them?  Most things I thought of was either a pudding or booze, both of which I am trying to cut back on.

Marmalade! I have never tried making this and they were just asking to be made into something, so why not marmalade.  Its quite labour intensive, the peeling, squeezing and chopping took just over an hour, but once the cooking part started it sort of looked after itself.  It tastes wonderful and I'm so pleased I made the effort.

I finished my seamless yoked cardigan

and started another cardigan - a simple V necked cardigan, I'm using Sirdar Denim Tweed acrylic/cotton/wool mix, even found some buttons that match.

Whilst putting the last of the bread out for the birds this morning I spied this little peak of spring.........

Latest WIPs

I didn't have time to post yesterday - Wednesday, so here are my WIP's today.

Firstly, the trusty Ten Stitch, this is the first of two for my grandsons.  Rufus loves to play tents with the ones I have here so I plan to knit one for each of the boys.  Its funny whenever Rufus comes and sees me knitting he asks " is that for me".  So pleased he appreciates my efforts. Using up lots of stash for these projects

Secondly is the Seamless Yoked cardigan, knitted on circulars in one piece. I am using a small circular for the sleeves rather than DPN's.  Its knitted in Sublime Baby Cotton Kapok DK in colour way Milkshake, this is so soft and washes well.  This will be a gift.

During 2013 I plan to use more stash again and try not to buy too much. To be honest I did buy some yarn on Monday but that was still 2012 so doesn't count!  I got 8 balls of Wendy Celtic Chunky in this colour way.  Its 70% acrylic and 30% wool and whilst it looks hairy it is very soft.  I have no plans for it but as it was in the sale it just kept calling to me......

Our New Year Walk

Happy New Year, the sun is out we are going for a walk.

Our walk today will take us to St Ives via the guided bus way.  As the bus way is not running today we are safe to walk along the tracks, as this is the only way we are going to walk there due to the water.

Did you enjoy the walk an 8 mile round trip.  We did, though the return journey was fairly crowded as there were a lot more cyclists and walkers than earlier and we had to keep skipping tracks.  Time for feet up and some knitting.

Tomorrow I will have to take down Christmas, can't face it today.
