For the past 2.5 weeks we have been away in France, Caunes Minervois to be precise .
We did lots - walking, eating, knitting, reading, sight-seeing.
There will be a number of posts from the holiday due to the fact I took over 700 photographs, and one post just won't do it.
So here is a taster.

Gardening - June beauty
With all the knitting lately, I have been neglecting the garden. The flowers happily run riot but the veg patch is sadly overshadowed by the trees this year even after our recent major pruning efforts. I think we will need to rethink the positioning of parts of our garden in the autumn.
Hopefully we will get some benefits from the work we put in. The courgettes are coming along, as are the various bean varieties. The birds have almost finished off the peas before they got started! Salad leaves and spinach are going to seed and need a cut back. Onion are doing fine. Our tomatoes we have in the greenhouse and also up by the house in tubs, hoping that we stay blight free this year. Potatoes, well we didn't actually plant any, but they seem to be coming up all over the place, I'm thinking that there must have been a few left behind and they got distributed about when the rotavating was being done.
Until the next time, have fun in the sun and enjoy the garden

Weekend - almost forgot
I was reminded this morning that I hadn't done a round up of the weekend. It was busy one. Grandchildren, Festival, Party, Visitors of all kinds.
In no particular order
Party at the Yard in Stamford - brilliant venue for a children's party and great coffee and cake for the adults. They even have Sunday papers.

Updated 25 June to add another hat
A little girl can never have too many hats, so to that end, I have knitted Miss J another one. This time its a canary yellow number.
This may just be my favourite of the three, what do you think?
As before - pattern is Fun in the Sun by Angela Turner - with modifications. Yarn Rico Design Essentials cotton DK

Knitting - Red Delicious
Whipped up another little hat yesterday. Same pattern, but I changed the brim for stocking stitch (I forgot it was supposed to be garter until nearly the end!!), though I like the effect.

Knitting - cuteness warning
Yesterday Rachel and I tried to find a sun hat for Jess that actually fitted her, that wasn't pink or white. She wanted something bright and cheery. As I had lots of cotton yarn left over (ok I ordered too much) from the cot blanket and cushion, I decided to knit one.
In this months' Love Knitting for Baby (June issue) there was a cute hat pattern - Fun in the Sun Bonnet by Angela Turner. This is my take on it. I left off the hat band and added my twist to it. Hope you like it. I actually shed a tear at how cute she looks in it.
I now have 3 more to knit to go with other outfits! Its a very quick knit so its not a problem and I am more than happy to do it

Family - 4
Rufus
today we wish you a very happy 4th birthday.
Its hard to believe that 4 years have passed so quickly.
I was there when you made your journey into the world,
unfortunately not as you took your first breathe;
but to hold you for the first time moments later was magical for me.
We have watched you grow into an independent little boy and are so very proud of you.
Our love goes with you on your continued journey in life
Have a wonderful day love Granny and Pops x x
