Finally finished this blanket, it shouldn't have taken me this long but I guess everything else has got in the way. Will definately knit some more. Finding it hard to think about what it will be used for. So sad.

SANDS Appeal
Calling all knitters, can you spare some time to knit up a baby blanket for the Sands Appeal – very simple pattern, only takes 200g of double knit yarn in either white or cream, three knitting options . Link to the pattern here
I have my first ones on my needles, I know I said I’d finish my waistcoat first, but I’ve been spending a bit of time on both, it’s a good cause and I can wait.

Going dotty update....
Remember this from last week, well I have now finished this
a matching pram blanket
Bit sick of spots, so guess I should get back to the top I was making for myself, though I'm not feeling that enthused right now.
I have a whole day to myself and am wondering what to do. Currently the sun is out but the garden is very wet from the overnight rain. The cyclists left just after 5am, so my day started early. Their start time from Norwich Cathedral is 7:20am, they hope to do the 100 miles in around 9 hours, so I'm not expecting them home much before 6:30pm as they plan to stop off for a meal on the way home. I hope the weather stays fine for them, though the forecast is not that good, still the rain will keep them cool!! Will let you know how they get on tomorrow.

No joke and my husband tells lies!
this morning I went for an MRI scan on my neck. Now I was very apprehensive before I went as I hate enclosed spaces and being held down for any length of time, so imagine my horror when the first thing they did was lay me on a bed, put a heavy contraption on my chest then strap down my arms! Head phones on, oh my god they are playing Mika, that was nearly enough for me to squeeze the panic button. I then felt myself being slid into the scanner, my big mistake was to open my eyes, that did it, my heart was racing, I broke out into a cold sweat, tears in my eyes, I willed myself to keep still and not to panic, so difficult I can tell you. It was the longest 15 minutes I have ever spent. When they finally let me out I was shaking from head to toe. I said to the radiographer that I was glad I wasn't right in it, and she said "you were, where did you think you were, you were right in the middle", so therein is the lie. Peter said I'd only go part way in as it was just my head!
I finally finished the Leaf pram blanket. I'm actually very pleased with it, its a bit old-fashioned but I think that's part of it charm. It took me 6 hours to sew up and finish the bunting border. Next project is a bunny cuddle blanket, in cotton for easy washing.

I knew it was doing me good
I just read the following on the Lionbrand Blog - Get out your knitting needles. An afternoon of knitting can burn more than 500 calories (at a rate of about 100 an hour). So along with the supposed 510 calories I burned doing my housework today + the 1 hour walk I just came back from I can have another piece of christmas cake without any guilt!!
I am determined to finish my leaf pattern blanket this weekend, only 5 more squares to knit, then sew it all up. Will actually be glad to see the back of it!

Oh and I forgot to say I joined the Medway Craft Group yesterday afternoon, what a great group of ladies, they made me feel very welcome, and restored my faith after my experience in Cambridge. I look forward to the next meeting.

I knew there was a problem
today I have been to Ely hospital for someone to finally look at my neck problem.
After months of being told go away and put up with it. ££££'s spent on osteopaths, acupuncture and Bowen technique I have been seen by someone that was interested. After a lengthy chat she got me to do various exercises to which my neck responded badly, to a point where there was an audible clunk, she said "what on earth was that", I said "that was my neck!!!" She said "that is seriously wrong". So I have had 3 x-rays, she will phone me Monday after the consultant has seen them and advise what the problem is. Basically the large muscles front and back of my neck are guarding an injury, what it is she's not sure as apart from a bad pull on the ab cruncher I've not done anything else, as in no accidents/whiplash. I may have to have my neck immobilised before things can be put right, we didn't go into details on that until they are sure whats wrong! So watch this space.
On my needles - just finished another pram blanket in blues, pattern chosen by Peter, so possibly for Baby Jones if his mummy to be likes it (she wants a blue pram so not an indication on the sex of the baby).

I will be making some sample squares and basic knitting instructions/patterns for a Youth knitting group we are starting in the new year and apart from that not sure what to knit next. I have loads of yarn to use, I am on an self-inforced no yarn buying programme at present and need to clear some out before the January sales!!!!
