Every weather

We have had every kind of weather today. Frost, sun, rain, hail, snow, windy, cloudy, gentle breeze. A real mixed bag.

We had a brief 3.5 mile walk and got caught in a hailstorm, it really can be quite painful.  We got fairly wet but soon dried off and was pleased to find that nearly all my washing was dry when we got home

Peter has kindly cooked the last few evenings and has today presented me with a beautiful roast beef dinner, it was very good.  I will add that as we had a late breakfast we didn’t have lunch today so I was more than ready to do justice to this plateful!

Iced

My neighbours gutter is leaking over our Cotoneaster in the drive, it will be interesting to see how big this gets if the weather stays as cold.  At least the snow has gone..... for now.

Easter weekend is looking cold with maybe a few snow showers on Friday.  We have so much clearing up in the garden still to do and we had hoped that the 4 day Easter holiday would break the back of it.  Not much fun working outdoors in freezing weather though.

8 week 2 days to go...........

Enough.......

The drive to work was interesting, -8.5C and freezing fog.

I felt physically sick by the time I got to the A14.  I don't think I have ever felt so disoriented.  I was so pleased to finally arrive in the car park and turned the engine off, even if it is like a skating rink!  The snow is still laying and showing no signs of leaving any time soon.  I'm just thankful that the roads I use to get to and from work are clear.

I want sunshine, I want warm.  The heating in the showroom has been playing up and we have been cold there too.  A nice man came this morning and sorted it out but it still wasn't up to temperature before I went home.  Luckily I keep an extra cardigan on my chair, and I certainly needed it.

Its still foggy and -2C (forecast to be -6C before dark); I decided to give knitting group a miss this afternoon as I didn't want to drive home in the foggy dark.  Some will say pathetic but actually I'd rather sit home and knit, OK I'll need to talk to myself, but at least I'm safe and warm.

WIP Wednesday

except I don't have any WIP's but I do have an FO and plans for the next project.

But first its very cold here today. This was the temperature on my way to work this morning.  Bear in mind this is centigrade.  It was still -1C when I left at 1pm.  There were some lovely frosted trees from the freezing fog on my trip home, looked very seasonal.  Anyway you didn't come here to read about our weather!

I finished this WIP last night.  Details of the sweater are here

Next project will by another "L for Laurie" as he has grown out of this one

He was 6 weeks old here

Mad March Walking

Its March, and the mornings are getting lighter.

The youngest and I started our early morning walking again today.  It was grey, it was windy, it was cold.  I wished I'd stayed in bed, but once out it was ok and I felt much better for it by the time we got back. Hopefully those pounds gained over the winter months will start to shift themselves.  Mind you, it would help if I stopped eating too, but how can you cut down on the calories when the weather is so cold.  Friday and Saturday were so spring like, then yesterday winter returned, we had rain all morning, followed by sleet and snow in the afternoon.

As I say Mad March. The weather yesterday did however allow me to get on with some knitting. I am well into my In the Mood Cardigan - the back, and one sleeve completed, sleeve two cast on and ribbing completed, 7 pattern repeats on left front completed and soon to start the shaping for the next.

The "no new projects during Lent" has been kept too, though I do have several patterns sorted for future projects, which was nearly as satisfying.

If you are into photography, can I point you to Daffodil's Photography Shop you will be sure to find something you like.  Kate is doing a giveaway on her photography site so as I say check it out. Kate also writes a really good blog - where you will also see more of her great pictures, in particular of her beautiful sons.

It may be winter outside.....

IT MAY BE WINTER OUTSIDE (BUT IN MY HEART IT'S SPRING)
When the temperature dips
I miss my baby's arms
His tender finger tips
Knows just how to keep me warm

It may be zero degrees
With the snow falling down
But I've got warm and tender love
Just as long as he's around

CHORUS:

It may be winter outside
But in my heart it's spring
How much joy and pleasure Baby
Can one guy bring me ................................

and on it goes, I bought some spring into the kitchen its amazing the difference it makes.

Hoping you all manage to keep warm this weekend.  Wrap up and go for a walk its beautiful outside

17 October 2011

the season of mists.....

and mellow fruitfulness - where is the mention of FROST in that.  Yes, frost on Saturday morning, that was a nasty surprise.  Can you believe only 2 weeks ago we were in shorts enjoying the heat!

Another busy weekend -  Friday with my little man

Saturday - town for a bit of shopping - a few bargain, coffee and a beer

Sunday - long walk, gardening, family to a roast dinner - you should have seen my yorkshire puddings

Not liking this cold weather, but its a good reason to light the wood burner in the garden room, its very effective, so effective we ended up in t-shirts and had the door open, obviously all that insulation works....

1 December 2010

4:30 is just too early

this morning I woke early, no reason that I know of, just thought it was time to get up.  So frustrating as I didn't manage to get back to sleep, just lay there listening to Peter breathing. Sounds like he is getting my cold btw!

Looks like we are in for another cold day, I hate this weather but at least we didn't get anymore snow overnight.  When I say I hate this weather what I really mean is driving in it, if I got to stay home and enjoy it that would be fine but getting from A to B with others then thats a different ball game.  This weather is far to early, we usually get snow in February if at all, so I guess its going to be a long winter.

1st December today, how is the Christmas shopping going?  I'm getting there slowly, oh well best go and get ready for work )-:

Have fun, keep safe x

Baby its cold outside

for the 2nd morning this week we have woken to a sharp frost.  It's cold, but sunny which I don't mind, do we need the frosts so early?  Scarves and gloves have been pulled out, the heating finally on.  Thoughts turn to casseroles and dumplings, warming soups and hot puddings to fill our tummies - and thicken our waistlines!!

All week I have been trying to stave off a cold but I think my body has finally said, its ok, its the weekend you can give in now, nose is running/sneezing and I'm shivery, well thanks for nothing, hate being ill in my own time, its just not fair.
