Knitting, books, what's not to like? Having had a relapse of my cold, I spent most of Sunday and Monday in bed. I got lots of reading done. Finished The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton, an interesting read. Started and finished Noonday by Pat Barker, loved it, having read the Regeneration Trilogy this is a perfect follow on, and am half through Go Set a Watchman by Harper Lee, enjoying this too. It was back to work today, I am feeling so much better, let's hope I've finally knocked this cold on the head.
Not as much knitting done as I'd hoped. I did cast on Laurie's sweater and have done the back and part way up the front. If you missed my finished Blish then its here.
The sweater details are as follows - Design E from Sirdar Secret Garden Aran Knits, lovely chunky cables, the yarn I am using is Kirkton House Craft Aran in a denim blue, my Ravelry page is here
and the leaves are here because they look so pretty

Knitting - Mum could you?
Last Tuesday afternoon Rachel asked if I could make Miss J a summer cardigan for a wedding they are attending this Friday. Only happy to comply. Quickly went through my patterns and stash and came up with this little number.
The pattern is Sirdar 1848 and the yarn Sublime Cotton Kapok DK. I made a few modifications. I did the front bands in one to avoid the centre back seam, left out the buttonholes, and added the flower details to make it look a bit more special.
Miss J will be wearing this with a peach dress with cream embroidered bodice, a straw hat, and little sandals. We tried it all on her this afternoon but forgot to take photos!

Knitting another shawl
I just popping in to share my latest finished shawl. I had to do this one as the one I made the other week has been hijacked by the bride-to-be (very happy with that). Same yarn as it goes well with my outfit.
This pattern is December Little Shawl. Yarn is Sirdar Sunseeker The Linen Touch (discontinued now). The yarn was a gift from a friend who was clearing out her late mother's stash a while ago. There was 500 grams in total and its made two shawls and I still have 2 x 50 gram balls leftover, enough to make something small.
So happy to make good use of this. I also have the same yarn in a different colourway.
Right must get going, I have a list of things to accomplish over the next 10 days......eeeeek!! There will be so many posts to share once this wedding is over. Its nearly killing me keeping everything under wraps.

Knitting - some holiday knitting
I just realised I've not shown you what I knitted whilst on holiday. In-between all that walking and sightseeing I did manage to get some knitting done.
Dress and matching hat for Jessica, I was down to the last few inches of the main colour on this one, quite scary, hence it got a flower rather than the matching bow.
Pattern is by Angela Turner - from Love Knitting for Baby June issue and the hat is another Fun in the Sun, also by Angela Turner
Yarn - Rico Design Essential Cotton DK
The next is a sweater for Laurie, I'm using just a basic pattern and adding the stripe pattern. The sleeves will have stripes around the cuffs too. It is further along than this but this was the post holiday stage.
Yarn - Sirdar Denim Tweed with some Sirdar Snuggly for the stripes

Knitting - FO Friday
Up early this morning to photograph this finished cardigan and to get sorted out before I pick up the little boys for the weekend. Not much time to do anything else but play and decide what if anything they will eat!!
So here is the finished cardigan from WIP Wednesday's post. I am really pleased with how this has turned out and should be a useful addition to Miss J's wardrobe.
As before the details are -
Pattern - A Dainty Jacket from Sirdar published in Yours Magazine a while back no other identifying details
Yarn - Sirdar Click Aran with Wool
Buttons - from the charity shop (-:
Have a great weekend, and if you are in the UK stay dry!!

Knitting - WIP Wednesday
Wednesday has rolled around again. The weeks seem to go so fast, or is it just me? I cast on my next shawl collar sweater last night.
Pattern - Design D from Sirdar 324 Vintage Snuggly
Yarn - Sirdar Denim Tweed.
Size 18"
I am making a few changes to the pattern, adding 2 x 2 ribbing on the hemline and cuffs. I like tidy bottoms and I have a feeling the edges will roll and look untidy without it. Lets face it we are at liberty to make any changes we like to a pattern.
Here is the finished sweater I was working on last week. I had a mental block when trying to fit the collar on, its by no means right but I think I now know what to do differently. Here's a reminder of the pattern details
And here is Jessica modelling her green/grey number. Doesn't she look cute even if its a little bit big. Pattern details for this one here
Thank you to everyone who is reading my blog via Facebook, remember you can LIKE the Facebook page and never miss the extras I put on there.

Health update and more for the stash
Readers, I have managed to drag myself into work. I ventured out yesterday to do a grocery shop, and that's about all. I feel better than I did, but unfortunately not so Peter. He has been to the doctor this morning, who then sent him off to the hospital for a chest x-ray. He has antibiotics and gets the results tomorrow. We are hoping its not a reocurrence of the pneumonia he had a couple of years ago when he last had a bad chest. We will have to see.
We have Beck and Rufus here again for a few days whilst the builder puts in the new stairs. Poor Rufus is not well either, so we all make a great crowd coughing and spluttering. I have never known us all to be so poorly.
I paid my daily visit to the local charity shop this afternoon and relieved them of 3 bags of yarn they were just putting out.
I started another baby cardigan with matching hat yesterday its, Belle from Patons Nursery Days, doing this one in a pale peach double knit. Pictures to follow along with the completed Lucy Cardigan

600 grams of Sirdar Denim Sport Aran in blue
150 grams of Sirdar Silky Look also in blue
200 grams of Patons Pearl Double Knit in yellow and a 380 gram bag of a green yarn which looks like double knit - no labels on that. My stash really didn't need it but as the whole lot only cost me £9.50, I felt it would be a crime to leave it. The green yarn will get used on my ten stitch twist rug. The rest will get put away for some future project. The pictures were taken from Ravelry as I couldn't be bothered to get my camera out.
