Weekend

A busy weekend was had. Saturday we spent with Rachel and the children. Stu was working so we helped out.  A birthday cake was made and decorated.  A shoe box covered with deco patch neither of which I have photos of.  A dragons egg was painted, tree house painting was started. Jubilee bunting was sewn. Lego jeep completed. A fun day spent. A beautiful day.

We got home and had chilli, cornbread muffins and frozen margaritas in the garden. Lovely. So pleasant to eat outside until the neighbour at the bottom decided to cut his grass at 7pm, very inconsiderate.  Our new neighbours move in on Friday. Must admit we have got used to there being no one there since September, so 4 adults (plus cars) and two dogs is going to take some getting used to. Not sure how they will all fit in but from what we understand they are planning building works ………

We took a walk our today. 5.5 miles. Hubby’s leg is slowly improving.

We took a bit of liquid pain killer a mile from home 

Second pint was needed just to make sure!

There was plenty of flowers on the walk too, the meadows just full of buttercups and clover. Love this time of year

 Just a few blooms from the garden here at Chateau de La Ruche. So many roses to come in the next few weeks, shame we won’t be here to see them

The borders are blooming. Blues and pinks and purples, with just a touch of yellow still.

Filling the day

After two weeks of working flat out it feels strange to suddenly have nothing much to do. 

When I say nothing much, there are jobs but there is no rush. 

This morning (Sunday) we were awake early, before 6.  

We had coffee/tea and came down for breakfast just after 8.  

I put laundry on.   

Made the bed 

Hung Peter’s long sleeved shirts up and put away the short sleeves - suddenly summer has gone and it’s too cool for short sleeves. 

Changed up the duvet and got out the thicker pjs, it’s that much cooler!

Went for a walk and back in time for coffee.  

Laundry all done and hung out.  

Flowers picked and arranged from the garden

Gardening tools checked over ready for our first visit to the allotment tomorrow (Monday) 

Lunch, knitting, wrestled the laundry from the line, high winds soon dried it, more knitting, dinner, yet more knitting, over half way up the cushion cover, must do photos, catching up on YouTube subs that I’ve missed.

All about flowers

We arrived back from France yesterday, and today I have been on a flower arranging workshop in the village.  So good to have a venue close to home - The Lodge Flower and Craft School. They are doing a Thursday Flower Club, which I decided to try out.

We were a small group just 5 ladies, today's project was to arrange in a Bento box.  It was a fun project, I've never done any flower arranging classes so wasn't sure what to expect, but this appealed to me.  We all did something different with our boxes and flowers provided.  The workshop runs from 10-12 with a coffee break - cake from Tom's too.

So here are some photos of my efforts, I'm pretty pleased with it even if I say so myself.  What do you think?

Nearly here

Our Easter bazaar in aid of Alzheimer's Research is nearly upon us.  I have been knitting up a storm, much to the detriment of my poor right hand, thumb pain.  Looking forward to giving it a bit of a rest. Most of the knitting is complete, all labelled and priced, packed up and ready to go.

The local village magazine dropped through the door this afternoon and there was our poster.  We have an advert going out on several local radio stations next week too, so we are hoping for a good turn out.  Everyone has been working so hard, and you have already been very generous, buying raffle tickets at local events. We have been begging raffle/tombola prizes and have offers of cakes for our cake stall.  Hopefully the weather will play ball and we can have the bouncy castles and of course there is an ice cream van

Things are perking up in the garden, with lots of spring flowers.  I know I share spring flower photos every year but they are so pretty not too.
