We did it

We wanted £1,000, we got £1,174, we are happy.  It was a good day on Saturday.  Maybe not as many people as we had hoped for.  But those that came spent their money on the stalls that counted.

I must give a mention to Linda and Kevin who came all the way from Lowestoft just to say hello, and to give us a donation.  I "met" Linda on the Granny's World facebook page, and we have chatted online and when I posted about the bazaar she said they would come.  I didn't really expect them too as its about a 200 mile round trip.  But come they did, it was great to meet face to face, and I hope that we can meet up again when we visit Southwold as its not that far away.  Thanks again for coming xx

It was an exhausting day by the time we had cleared up, I did at least sleep well with the aid of a couple of beers and a sleeping tablet!  After 2 nights of laying awake thinking I needed to sleep.

Sunday felt really flat, for the past 3 months we have been planning and advertising and making, now its done its like - what now?

I do have a few orders to knit up.  But oh so many things to get shot of ............ not sure the craft fair circuit is for me, all those people that just walk by without even taking a glance.  The standing around trying not to look bored.  Maybe I'll open an Etsy shop, along with all the thousands that are already on there ....... or maybe I'll just give everything away

Still to do is the baking of cakes for the Bake Sale.  I will get Jess to help me tomorrow, she loves a spot of baking.

Nearly here

Our Easter bazaar in aid of Alzheimer's Research is nearly upon us.  I have been knitting up a storm, much to the detriment of my poor right hand, thumb pain.  Looking forward to giving it a bit of a rest. Most of the knitting is complete, all labelled and priced, packed up and ready to go.

The local village magazine dropped through the door this afternoon and there was our poster.  We have an advert going out on several local radio stations next week too, so we are hoping for a good turn out.  Everyone has been working so hard, and you have already been very generous, buying raffle tickets at local events. We have been begging raffle/tombola prizes and have offers of cakes for our cake stall.  Hopefully the weather will play ball and we can have the bouncy castles and of course there is an ice cream van

Things are perking up in the garden, with lots of spring flowers.  I know I share spring flower photos every year but they are so pretty not too.

Starting the year

Can we still say Happy New Year on the 9th January?

This year is getting off to a positive start.  My friend Sally and I are organising an Easter Bazaar in aid of Alzheimer's Research UK, check out our events page on Facebook.  If you are considering giving to charity this year, then why not make it Alzheimer/Dementia Research in your given country?

Granny's World will be having a stall at the event, still deciding what I will make, but there will be some Easter themed items.

2017 has seen plenty of knitting action so far, I have completed 3 projects, all of which I am happy with especially as 2 of them are for me!

Christmas greetings

Sharing this years' trees and a note I shared on Facebook explaining the reason we aren't sending cards this year

Dear Friends,

I am writing to explain why I won’t be sending Christmas cards this year.

For some time now our mum has been displaying signs of memory loss. At first we put it down to the stress of my father being so ill, then to grief over his death last September. This past year has seen our mum go rapidly downhill and it became obvious that our father had been covering for her for a while. At the end of August she became very poorly and was unable to care for herself even with the help of my brother and sister in law who live close by.

The doctor suggested some respite care and a place was found locally to her. Whilst she had had several memory checks she had never been formally assessed, this was urgently put into place and in November we were told she was suffering from vascular dementia. As you can imagine this was a relief as well as a great sadness. Mum is now in the dementia unit of the care home and being taken care of by people more able to cater for her growing needs.

So this year, and possibly for the foreseeable future I plan to make a donation to the work of Alzheimers Research UK, whilst my donation is too late for mum, it may help someone else’s parent in the future.
