Weekend

Another week has come and gone and Saturday was Jess’s birthday shopping trip.  We have done this for the last four years and we have a fun time.  

We got lots of bargains and she came home with quite a haul. We even managed to pick up a couple of things for Gus too.

Lunch was McDonalds ! Her choice, but we did go to Jacks for ice cream afterwards. Here we are in the mizzily rain. My hair goes crazy when it gets damp.

 

It really was a miserable day but we managed to walk 6.5 miles from parking the car and going from the main shops to the Grafton Centre and back. I was really surprised.  We got caught up in a march for Ukraine so we just walked along with them until they reached their destination and then we carried on.  It was well attended and peaceful. Let’s hope someone sees sense soon or deals with Mr P once and for all!

Today has been fine. A bit stormy looking but dry around us.  I did the laundry and whilst waiting planted up some seeds - beetroot, parsnip, chillies, marigolds and nasturtium for now. I will be planting each week from now on and once germinated will put them out in the cold frame until the ground is warm enough.

We walked late morning. 6 miles. As you can see dramatic skies but no rain. Very muddy in places around the lakes and meadow paths but enjoyable. Good to be out in the fresh air after a week of rainy days.  

The week ahead promises to be sunny, so lots of walking planned.  We have new walking shoes to try out. Altra Lone Peak Trail Runners recommended by a friend so we bit the bullet and splashed out on a pair each, these are mine. You will certainly see my feet coming!
