August is flying by

August, normally a month of warm sultry days. Not this year. It’s been grey and dismal. Not just here but all around the world. Odd, unseasonal weather. Grey, damp days, with maybe the odd bit of sun thrown in for good measure.

Covid still rearing it’s ugly head. Sad news from a friend last week.

After a quiet weekend to recover from the grandkids we’ve been doing odds and ends this week. Just us two. Usual stuff gardening, walking, house stuff, knitting, visiting.

Monday was a miserable day so we went and called in on mother in law and Pat. They are doing ok, like us all getting older and forgetful! Though if my memory is like theirs at 93 and 86 I’ll be happy. We spent a quiet afternoon, me knitting.  A couple of cat blankets

Tuesday, we went walking and Rachel sent us a couple of photos of a book she advised on a while back. So proud to see her name in print

Wednesday we took ourselves off to Bury St Edmunds for market day then on to Ickworth   House (NationalTrust)

We have been before so as there was a large queue for the house we just walked the grounds and then drove home across country for a change. I spent the evening finishing off a baby cardigan for a friend

Thursday, today, a dull start but dry, changed the bed and towels, cleaned through the house then headed out for a walk. The sun finally appeared as we walked back through the meadows

Then home for a long lunch in the garden. Making the most of what sun we can get- cheers xx
