Time to put our feet up

After two weeks in France with all the family, the long journey home on Tuesday, then three days of entertaining Jess and Gus we are pooped to say the least.

They really aren’t any bother just full on from the moment they are up, which is 6am. Anyway we had a busy few days.

Wednesday - we stayed home and I tackled the holiday wash, went to the park for a while then hit the garden. Both children were happy to help and had fun clearing up and pulling weeds

During the afternoon Jess and I made a couple of lavender bags.  Her first attempt at back stitch, she did well, stitches small and close enough to keep the lavender in. Still can’t get her to start knitting yet.

Thursday - we headed over to our nearest National Trust property, Anglesey Abbey, taking with us a picnic lunch and enthusiasm for a fun day.  They climbed, made dens, ran about, had a great time. Some bits are still closed due to Covid restrictions but it didn’t spoil the visit.

Today Friday - we decided to go on a bike/scooter ride and took them for a pub lunch to the Three Jolly Butchers in Houghton.  Jess and I were on bikes and Peter and Gus on scooters, I must state Peter doesn’t own a scooter it was Rachel’s, his first time scooting since childhood. Everyone did really well as it was a 5 mile roundtrip which for 5 and 7 year old a good distance.

We followed this up with another visit to the park. They just love the zip wire.

We are now sat revelling in the silence and Lego-less rooms!
