First Saturday of the month

The requested headband is finished.  This one is slightly deeper on the account of there being thicker yarn, more strands. I tried going down a needle size or two but it made for very uncomfortable knitting.  The band looks fine on, cosy, so I’ll make sure our daughter models it for you.

There was a break in the cloud after lunch so we popped along for a walk round the lakes. The sun didn’t last long and the wind was cold.  We dropped by the allotment on the way home.  The brassica plants seem to be doing ok, their collars blown off, but I’m guessing the root fly isn’t active now so I’ll pop them back on later. Green shoots are appearing from the onion sets along with weeds under the fleece, so we will pop along next week and have a bit of a tidy.  I need to get in my broad bean seeds too. I also have som strawberry runners to pot up, maybe a job for tomorrow. It’s supposed to be nice.

We went along to the farmers market this morning in St Ives.  A good haul.  The squash is for dinner tonight, baked with a soft goats cheese inside along with seasonings and garlic and herbs.  There was a new stall this week from a local cheese supplier the Whyte Wytch based at Sacrewell Mill.  A soft cows cheese which we sampled and then purchased. This will make a change for lunch next week. The chrysanthemums were of limited colours this week, I imagine they are coming to an end, but these look lovely in a jug along with lots of rosemary from the garden. They smell good too.

Fireworks tonight at the far end of the village, we should be able to watch from the bedroom window, though currently it’s very windy so they could end up anywhere.  Stay safe if you out tonight
