Wednesday

We woke to moody grey skies, forecast was for grey all day with a slight possibility of some rain.  We decided to head to the allotment to check on things and to plant the broad bean seeds. All was well, the onion sets are starting to poke through as are the weeds.  So we took back the fleece and had a quick tidy then covered them back over.  Peter planted the beans whilst I quickly went over the largest bed and pulled weeds. No point in letting them get established.

Back home just as the rain started so we fiddled about, I made cheese scones for lunch. We ate them straight out of the oven, no wonder I get indigestion!

After lunch we headed out for a walk as things had dried up. In fact it was very mild, too mild for coats. The autumn colours are much in evidence now.  Still green leaves on the oaks in the meadow, I expect it will be a little while before they change.

All was very peaceful on the meadows, cows and calves grazing.  Horses in their winter covers. Swans drifting along in pairs. Dogs and owners out for their late afternoon walks.  Birds starting to roost for the day. Everything is winding down.

Time to light the lamps and close the curtains on another day
