Started the day with a visit to the Pump Street Bakery for breakfast
Which we ate on a bench overlooking Orford Castle
We then took a walk around Orford and down to the quayside, taking in the church and the pretty cottages and gardens on the way
We walked the headland on a circular walk taking us back into Orford. Another time we will come and stay down here and make a proper walk of the coastal paths
Back at the car looking a bit windswept. Peter says I look like Professor Sprout from Harry Potter
Next stop was Aldeburgh, we got there via a cross country route which was lovely, so many bluebell woods and lots more walks, as I say something for a future short break
Late lunch - so good
After lunch it came on to rain so we sat in the car for a while till it left off then headed back out along the beach walk to Thorpness
This is the Scallop by Maggi Hambling - a celebration to the work of Benjamin Britten
Sea front houses
Beach rose, the first of many to come
Coralline Cairn -
coralline-cairn
Just us two
Towards Aldeburgh
Pretty stones, we could have spent hours sorting
It was a perfect day out, good company, good food (we bought some smoked prawns and eel for tea and also some Eccles cakes from the bakery came home too), good walk, nearly 8 miles which is just as well. Shame about the weather but most of the rain was on the drive home. All in all a good time and it mostly felt quite normal
Great pictures. The photo of you and you and you and peter was great !1 Liked your hair wind swept. It becomes you. There sure are a lot of stones on that beach! Our beaches have soft sand. Glad you enjoyed your day! Can see it in your faces. xo
