Allotment day - 3

Rachel and the children are spending the weekend with us so we were up bright and early and headed to the allotment where everyone was set to work.

The children had a great time and actually worked really hard, raking the turned soil and removing loose weeds.  Jess even had a go at digging too.  Gus had his trucks and they made a quarry and mud ponds and got filthy but said they had the best day.  Simple pleasures.

The day actually turned out really warm and we certainly worked up a sweat.  Met more allotment holders, they all seem a friendly bunch, a mix of older people like us and young families. Both our neighbours have tiny babies.

Our new trolley, which you can just see in the last photo proved its worth, taking all the tools, lunch, three chairs, a digger and a truck, plus numerous pairs of wellies, gloves and packets of sweets.

Peter and I will go back on Monday and finish digging the last quarter, then tidy the edges and make some plans

  1. That’s a huge achievement! What a transformation, I bet you’re pleased with your progress on this, and I’m guessing your neighbours are as well!
