1 December 2020

Now it’s December 1st

What a difference a day makes. Blue skies, cold and a slight wind, perfect day for a new to us walk, not all new but at least a good half of it. We left the village and took the bridge over the old A14 and headed towards the new A14 far in the distance. The map here only shows the old road the new one is just below the bottom arrows.

Traffic along the new road

Old way marker on the now closed part of the St Ives to Hilton road

Crossing over the new St Ives to Hilton road takes you on a public footpath to Fenstanton village - more lakes. This whole area is covered with reclaimed gravel workings making it a haven for bird life and walkers alike. If you check back to the map you can see all the blue areas just surrounding our village and local areas

Whilst in Fenstanton we popped into the butchers they do amazing pies- steak and kidney pie for dinner yum, and the bakers for bread and an Eccles cake. We returned via Low Road where we took another public footpath which brings you out just opposite Marsh Lane so for safety sake we climbed the gate and walked back along the lakes. How much better are the views compared to Sunday?

As you can see I think we earned that cake (which actually wasn’t very good), but oh that pie tonight so good, served with cauliflower and white sauce.

Tomorrow we are out of lockdown but on to Tier 2 restrictions, life really won’t change that much for us just a few more shops to visit and hopefully a haircut
