November - making fire

What a busy day we’ve had today. Another sunny and frosty start but soon warmed up once I started raking. After raking up the squashed leaves I then donned the leaf blower and had a great time walking around the drive clearing the gravel of all the fallen leaves. I know it will be covered again tomorrow but at least if we can keep on top of them the cars won’t squash them to mud.

After leaves came hedge trimming, we decided to get this done today as we were having the fire. It actually didn’t take too long as we had done it a couple of visits back.

Tim spent the day putting up wires for the climbers and Rebecca has been tying in all the plants that have gone crazy over the summer. Everything is looking really tidy which is very satisfying.

We got the fire going just before the boys came home from school so it was nicely alight by the time they arrived. We enjoyed a mulled wine outside whilst jacket potatoes cooked. Then we came back out for toasted marshmallows for dessert. The fire was banked up and left safe to burn out over night.

Ready and waiting

Neat hedge

Feeding the fire

Damp leaves make smoke!

This is my latest knit, Linus shawl with eyelets, I don’t really need another shawl but it’s a good use of stash
