November - stick picking

Another busy day here at the Chateau. It started cold and misty but turned into a beautiful sunny day albeit still cold. Rufus and I spent all day collecting sticks from the lawns and avenues. These are all stacked now ready to have a bonfire tomorrow evening, along with branches that were removed earlier in the season.

There is some amazing fungi growing from the tree stumps and the gendarmes beetles were enjoying the sunshine, coming out in their 100’s. It’s funny when we first came three years ago they were everywhere but now just on the decaying matter

The tree is awaiting cutting but due to lockdown the guy with the large chainsaw can’t come right now. Still the boys are enjoying climbing on it.
