Yesterday evening - the crossing was booked, the car was packed, we awaited Macron’s address. Lockdown again but from midnight on Thursday (today). What to do? If we go can we get back? Answer to that one is yes with the correct attestation (paperwork). Two weeks lockdown at the Chateau, not really a problem, sometimes we don’t go far as frankly we are just too busy. We looked at each other, go or stay? If we stay we may not see the French half of the family for some considerable time, plus we’d have to unload the car again. Much of the stuff they need in France. Let’s just go. What’s the worst that can happen?
A restless night, half night really as we were up at 2am. We hit the road and immediately ran into a road closure. Diversion. 45 minutes later we are back on track but it’s added 30 minutes to our journey. Roadworks and lane closures on the M11 slow us down. M20 closed along our route. More diversions. Missed exit. Frustrations. Eurotunnel caught with minutes to spare. Emotions running high. Tempers frayed.
France - grey skies, rain but lots of autumn colour.
Can’t relax, so much traffic on the normally quiet roads. Is everyone running for somewhere to lockdown?
We arrive. Relax. No kisses and cuddles. They are pleased to see us. I can think of no better place to lockdown. Will the UK be next? Not that it matters as we will need to quarantine again when we return
I’ll leave you with a photo of the Chateau it’s now closed for the rest of the year but their calendar is open for next year and booking up fast
Thank you to everyone who has commented recently. Please stay safe. Catch you tomorrow xx
